Dr. Maria H. Anderson 

Co-Founder & CEO

Maria is the CEO of Socrait, PBC, bringing 30 years of experience in education, including classroom teaching, online learning design, and EdTech innovation. After the sale of Coursetune, where she was co-founder and CEO, Maria just wanted to go back to teaching and embarked on an “adventure” into K-12 education as a teacher at Beehive Academy of Science and Technology. Her current work focuses on leveraging AI and advanced technologies to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in education today. Maria lives in Utah, where she enjoys hiking in slot canyons, camping in a tiny trailer, and being walked by her two huskies.

Jason Palmer

Co-Founder & President

For the past three decades, Jason has been starting, investing in, and growing education technology companies, including SchoolNet, Credly, LearnPlatform, Presence Learning, Graduation Alliance, Mursion, StraighterLine, Nepris, and twenty more. Jason grew up in a K12 education family where his father was a teacher, principal and superintendent, and his sister taught math and computer science. Jason served as a board member for the University of Virginia’s School of Education for twelve years, and also was a longshot presidential candidate in the last election. He lives in Baltimore, Maryland, where he is the proud father of a daughter in middle school.

Cameron Flint

Co-Founder & Head of Engineering

Cameron spent over 12 years designing and building software systems for small and large teams at companies like TechSmith, Microsoft, Convoy, and Snowflake across diverse domains including logistics, automation, geolocation, audio/video, identity/auth, databases, and networking. Cameron is thrilled to help Socrait launch its innovative first product offering in the edtech space, and to jumpstart the growth of its small-but-mighty engineering team.

Jim Clor

Vice President of Sales

Jim comes from a family of educators and has over 25 years of experience in edtech executive management, marketing, and sales, partnering with educators to implement innovative solutions. Throughout his career, Jim has held senior roles at both large organizations and startups, driving growth and leading multiple companies from concept to acquisition. He was part of the senior management team at WeAreTeachers, helping to create one of the first online social communities for educators. Most recently, Jim led Sales and Marketing at Nepris through its acquisition and transition to Pathful. He lives with his family in Tampa, Florida.

John Costilla

Vice President of Marketing

John has spent over 30 years at the intersection of K-12 education and technology. Beginning as a middle school English teacher and curriculum specialist, he expanded into roles including professional development lead, sales manager, marketing executive, and state program consultant. His experience spans both education start-ups and established organizations. With leadership roles at Lightspan, Pearson, WeAreTeachers, Renaissance, and Capstone Publishing, John has worked to bridge gaps in instructional support, teacher impact, funding, and equitable access. He currently serves as a board member and former president of Friends of Texas Public Schools, sits on the Literacy First advisory board, and actively participates in state and national education associations. A Texas Tech University graduate, John remains dedicated to enhancing K-12 education through innovation and collaboration. John resides in Austin, Texas with his wife, America.

Alina Ciocarlie-Dragomir

Head of Design

With over 15 years of experience crafting intuitive digital experiences, Alina is a seasoned UI/UX designer who has shaped user interfaces for global brands including Unilever, PepsiCo, and Porsche. For the past seven years, she has specialized in educational technology as a core team member at Coursetune, where she developed deep insight into educators’ needs and workflow patterns. Now bringing her expertise to Socrait, Alina creates teacher-first interfaces that combine aesthetic excellence with practical functionality, ensuring that technology serves as an enabler rather than a barrier in the classroom.
